Help Provide Life Experiences

Five businesses under one roof, all staffed by adults with special needs — now that’s worth your support.

Cary-based nonprofit Life Experiences offers just what its name says. Its bakery, shredding, laundry, sub-contracting and buckwheat hull services all offer employment to adults with developmental disabilities, while simultaneously providing services and products for the community.

“They had spent all this time in school learning skills, and they wanted to be able to utilize those skills,” said Executive Director Mary Madenspacher. “With our help and support, they can do work and get paid for it.”

You can support the efforts of Life Experiences by taking part in its largest fundraiser of the year, the 29th annual Harry H. Montgomery Auction & Golf Tournament.

This year’s event is extra-special, organizers says, as the group celebrates Madenspacher’s 21st service anniversary with Life Experiences.

Set for Sunday and Monday, Sept. 11-12, the two-part fundraising event includes the Evening of Experiences at Prestonwood Country Club, offering bidding on more than $25,000 worth of vacation trips, jewelry, artwork, dining and more, along with hors d’oeuvres and drinks.

Day two features a captain’s choice golf tournament, also at Prestonwood, with a boxed lunch, refreshments on the course, and awards at the end of the day.

Registration is open through Sept. 2.
