If you ever wanted to try the sport of rowing, here’s your chance.
The Triangle Rowing Club will hold its Sneak Peek Week from Aug. 19-31 at Lake Wheeler Park, 6404 Lake Wheeler Road in Raleigh.
“We hold a Sneak Peek Week each spring and fall to offer middle and high school students the chance to take to the oars in one of our club’s boats,” said TRC Head Coach Will White.
“This fall we’re extending the ‘sneak peek’ to two full weeks, through Aug. 31, to provide an opportunity for more people to find out why rowing is such a great team sport.”
Brittany Hatt is a longtime TRC team member who recently earned a rowing college scholarship.
“Rowing is so cool!” said Hatt. “It’s all about sportsmanship and teamwork. You have to pull your own weight.”
Each day during the Sneak Peak Weeks, from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m., interested students can talk to TRC rowers and coaches and see for themselves what rowing is all about.
The club welcomes rowers of all abilities, from novice to experienced, with the goal of providing a fun, safe and positive experience.
A meeting for parents of returning and new rowers will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at Lake Wheeler.
