Shakespeare Comes to The Cary

Feb 17, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - Feb 26, 2017 @ 5:00 pm

The Cary Players return with a fun take on Shakespeare. Director Nancy Rich will navigate the many nuances of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged/Revised) for those willing to both poke fun at the bard and witness some of his most brilliant moments. Compiled by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, this mash-up of Shakespeare plays will keep audiences laughing, whether or not you’re a fan of his work. Tickets are $18 and $20. Dates and times for the productions are:

•           Fridays and Saturdays: February 17,18, 24 and 25; 7:30 p.m.

•           Sundays: February 19 and 26; 2 p.m.

Also on tap from Shakespeare is the film version of his “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” In this sensual and dream-like adaptation, director Julie Taymor fills each scene with lavish costumes and sets for Shakespeare’s classic comedy about mistaken identities, love potions and unlikely infatuations. It takes place during the wedding of Theseus and Hippolyta, under the light of the Fairyland moon. Tickets are $8 and $10. Show times are February 9, 10 and 11 at 7 p.m. and February 12 at 2 p.m.
