May 6, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Friends of the Page-Walker Host 8th Annual Herbfest
Spring is the best time of year for Triangle gardeners, and The Friends of the Page-Walker is offering garden enthusiasts the inspiration they need to get growing at their 8th Annual Herbfest. Held on the lovely grounds of the Page-Walker Arts & History Center in downtown Cary, the festival will be held Saturday, May 6, from 9 am to 3 pm.
This event promises something for everyone – from the most seasoned garden enthusiasts to anyone looking to turn their thumbs green. Guests will have an opportunity to stroll through craft and herb booths that will be selling items related to gardening, herbs, native plants, perennials, and nature. Other highlights will include the must-see live butterfly releases; the silent auction featuring unique garden-related items; kid activities; and the popular Young Friends bake sale featuring delicious treats. Food will be available for sale at local food trucks including Ty’s All Natural.
Festival-goers will be inspired to start their own herb gardens by touring the Anne B. Kratzer Educational Herb Garden, including a close-up look at the historic 1850’s Page smokehouse. Guests can also learn about the Pollinator Garden at the Page Walker, a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat that features native plants. This garden was created and is maintained through a unique partnership between the Cary Woman’s Club, the Cary Garden Club, the Friends of Page Walker, and the Town of Cary.
This event is co-sponsored by the Town of Cary and The Friends of the Page-Walker, an all-volunteer, non-profit, membership organization whose mission is to enrich the community by serving as a guardian for the Page-Walker Arts and History Center, by advocating preservation of Cary historical sites, archiving history and facilitating history education, and promoting cultural arts.
