Downtown Chowdown in Cary
Jul 30, 2017 @ 12:30 pm - 5:00 pm
It’s back! The third Downtown Chowdown food truck rodeo of the summer brings music, food, drinks and lots of fun to Academy Street from Dry Avenue to Waldo Street on July 30 from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Up your foodie score by hitting one of the 24 Triangle-area food trucks that will set up shop, including Baconessence, Chirba Chirba Dumplings, Fresh Local Ice Cream, Oak City Fish & Chips, Mac-Ur-Roni, Taco Grande and lots more. Those looking to satisfy their cravings for a local brew or wine can head over to the two designated areas to sample the wares from Bond Brothers, Chatham Hill Winery, Chatham Street Wine Market, Fortnight Brewing, Fullsteam Brewing and Raleigh Brewing Co. This is the third of four Downtown Chowdowns set for 2017; the remaining date is Oct. 1.
During the event, live music from Raleigh-based LaureNicole and Apex’s Peak City Sound will perform on the stage at Downtown Park. LaurenNicole’s influence runs the gamit from the classic rock of Guns ‘n’ Roses and Led Zeppelin to recent pop stars Daughtry and Christina Aquilera. Peak City Sound are a 15-musicians strong band that will take their audience on a toe-tapping journey from Motown to Margaritaville with an energetic blend of feel-good songs. There will be seating areas available in the park and leashed pets are allowed. A kid’s area on Park Street next to the Mayton Inn will provide giant checkers, giant Jenga, bubbles, hula hoops, and more.
In support of the Downtown Chowdown, Academy Street will be closed from Dry Avenue to Waldo Street on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Additionally, Park Street will be closed for through traffic at Academy Street during the same time. Dry Street and Chatham Street will remain open during the event. Parking is available in downtown Cary and the parking deck at Town Hall Campus (intersection of Wilkinson Avenue and Ambassador Loop). Accessible parking is available at the Cary Arts Center parking lot located off Faculty Avenue. Patrons can use the sidewalk to proceed across Dry Avenue to the event.
