Together on Center Stage Presents: The World Needs a Hug

Oct 6, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - Oct 7, 2017 @ 4:00 pm

Together On Center Stage (TOCS) Presents:

The World Needs A Hug: Small Acts of Kindness Make A HUGE Difference

The all volunteer award winning Together On Center Stage Inclusive Theater Initiative, is now hosted by The New Horizon Fellowship Church, 820 E. Williams St., Apex, NC.   Our first program in the new venue features 30 individuals of varied disabilities, and an additional 30 teen and adult “buddies”, telling the audience in song and dance and experience – how acts of kindness make our world a better place.

Two shows at the church will be presented: Friday evening October 6 at 7 pm and Saturday afternoon October 7 at 2 pm.  There are no advanced ticket sales. Admission is a minimum donation of $10 + a non-perishable food donation or a wrapped toy to benefit those in need through the Western Wake Crisis Ministry, and the Christmas Store Project sponsored by NHF.

All monies raised from this TOCS performance benefits other programs for the special needs population and the “Mayor’s Anti-Bullying Campaign” founded by Mayor Dick Sears of Holly Springs, NC.

The TOCS program provides a performing arts and social vehicle for people regardless of their level of experience or “abilities”. This program promotes inclusion and community spirit. It is presented in a welcoming environment and is committed to developing social and performance skills, building self-esteem and discipline, responsibility, positive values through the creative arts, and to providing anti-bullying awareness and education!

Alan Rosen is the founder and director of TOCS.  He holds degrees in Special Education and the Fine Arts.  He is the author and composer of Through Our Eyes, a musical theater production that tells stories of how special needs individuals see the world through their eyes.  The show was performed at the United Nations in 2008.  Mr. Rosen received the “Dare To Imagine Award” from the VSA, in 2009 and most recently, in 2016, the Distinguished Service Award by the Arc of the Triangle for his work with TOCS and the special needs community.

Volunteers and new participants are always welcome.  Contact Rosen at alan@togetheroncenterstage.org for additional information.
