FIRST-EVER PORCHFEST AT SOUTHERN VILLAGE
Jun 3, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Chapel Hill, NC (May 15, 2018) — PORCH, an all-volunteer, grassroots nonprofit organization that distributes food to hundreds of at-risk families in Chapel Hill and Carrboro, today announced that it is hosting its first-ever PORCHfest on Sunday, June 3, from 5-8pm on the Lawn at Southern Village. The free event will feature rhythm-and-blues band Too Much Fun, performing at 6pm. Pizza, burgers, beer, ice cream and more will be available for purchase from local vendors, with proceeds benefiting PORCH’s fresh food program.
“We’re excited to bring the community together for a fun, family-friendly evening,” said PORCH founder Christine Cotton. “It’s a great opportunity to raise more awareness and money for our hunger relief efforts in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. But just as importantly, we look forward to celebrating the 8-year, $2 million mark for PORCH with all of the people who have made it possible: volunteers, donors, business owners, social workers, town officials, UNC partners, and more.”
Participating vendors on the Lawn include Al’s Burger Shack, Maple View Farms, and Carolina Brewery, as well as several Southern Village-located businesses including Pazzo. A portion of their sales will be donated to PORCH.
