Waltonwood Cary Parkway (a premier senior living community) is giving back to those who help others. The residents and team members are joining forces with Cary Elementary School to host a school supply drive, and Dorcas Ministries (a nonprofit organization in Cary) to host a food drive. The public is encouraged to drop off all items at Waltonwood Cary Parkway (located at 750 SE Cary Parkway) from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday until Friday, August 17. A donation box is located near the front desk at the community.

For the school supply drive, teachers and students need many items, including: folders, notebooks, colored pencils, dry erase makers, hand sanitizer, index cards, staples, copy paper, Clorox wipes, Post-it notes, paper plates, Ziploc bags, napkins and disposable cups. These aren’t typical items people think of, but they will make a huge difference in the classroom all year. For the food drive, the community will be collecting nonperishable food items including: canned goods, crackers, apple sauce, cereal, peanut butter, condiments and pasta. The need for donations is greater this time of year, as many children do not get proper nourishment in the summer without school lunches.
