AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day

The American Kennel Club® (AKC) will hold its much anticipated annual Responsible Dog Ownership Day on Saturday, September 8th from 10am – 3pm at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh.
A variety of dog breeds will be on hand for petting and photo ops, along with their responsible breeders, owners, trainers, and handlers who can talk all things dog.
There are also a variety of fun activities that families can participate in with their dogs at this free event, including:
- Free goodie bags to first 500 families.
- AKC’s My Dog Can Do That!: Trainers will help visitors take their dog through the agility equipment at a beginning level for just $5.
- Spectators can explore Ask a Trainer and Find a Responsible Breeder
- AKC Canine Good Citizen® testing open to the public for just $5. This 10-step test certifies that dogs are well-mannered members of the community.
- Family-friendly activities like raffles, games, face painting, badge opportunities for Y-Guides and scouts, and more.
- Low-cost microchipping for $10 with Wake County Animal Care, Control & Adoption. The fee includes lifetime enrollment in AKC Reunite’s national recovery service.
- Action-packed dog demonstrations including Scent Work, Disc Dog, Flyball, Police K-9s and more.
