$7Psychedelic Nu-Funk coming to Raleigh this May!
STIG:
STIG, is the combination of 5 members’ differing musical backgrounds. STIG is Ryan Stigmon on saxophone, who grew up with bluegrass and jazz, Thomson Knoles on keys, who grew up influenced by funk and studied modern jazz in college, Artie Sadtler from outside DC on bass, who rocked gages in high school and listened to metal and hip hop, Jack McChesney from Vermont on drums, a multi-instrumentalist, an avid Phish fan, and who likes to play really fast, and Riley Hoover on guitar, who played in a psychedelic rock band growing up in San Diego, California. A day in the STIG tour van is soundtracked by an absurd potluck of 5 musical brains.
STIG was formed in Boston, MA, where all 5 members met at Berklee College of Music. Since leaving Boston, the band has been touring the country nearly non stop, playing high energy shows and catering their funk to the vibe and energy of the crowd. This past September, the members of STIG once again created a space to call home together, to write together and to grow musically together: Asheville, North Carolina. Surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains and photosynthesized leaves, STIG has already cranked out new tunes since their debut studio album, Agreed Upon, came out at the end of September 2018.
THE MOON UNIT:
The Moon Unit is a progressive funk rock outfit hailing from Hickory, North Carolina. The band combines crisp riffs with deep grooves to create a fresh sonic experience for every listener. From lyrical to instrumental arrangements, the dynamic style of their playing includes compositions, live improvisation, and pulls on musical influences like Rush, the Meters, Nirvana, KNOWER, Snarky Puppy, and Weather Report. Composed of Brantley Ramseur (bass/vox), Charlie Garnett (guitar/vox), and Kurt Stracener (drums/vox), The Moon Unit lends each listener their own aural jaunt.
