Prescription Drug Take Back Day
Apr 27, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
April 27 is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and the Town of Cary Police Department is encouraging citizens to clean out their cabinets and safely dispose of unwanted over-the-counter and prescription medication at its spring Operation Medicine Drop pill take back event. Officers will be at the following locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to receive medication:
- Cary Town Hall, 120 Wilkinson Avenue
- Christ the King Lutheran Church, 600 Walnut Street
- Walgreens, 1210 Kildaire Farm Road
- Walgreens, 10210 Green Level Church Road
- CVS, 2994 Kildaire Farm Road
Cary residents who cannot attend Operation Medicine Drop have the opportunity to properly dispose of medications year-round thanks to a secure drug disposal box at the Town of Cary Police Department, 120 Wilkinson Ave. The permanent drop box is accessible weekdays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Over the counter and prescription medicine in pill form are accepted; liquids, creams, radioactive materials and needles may not be disposed of at this site. In 2018, the Town collected about 2,500 pounds of pills through its onsite drop box and two pill take back events.
Pill take back events are sponsored across the state by Safe Kids North Carolina, the N.C. Department of Insurance, State Bureau of Investigation and Drug Enforcement Administration.
