New Hope Valley Railway’s May 18 Brew ‘n’ Choo Features Train Rides, Food and Drinks
The Triangle’s Train Hosts Family-Friendly Ride Event

(Bonsal, N.C., April 25, 2019) – New Hope Valley Railway (NHVR), the Triangle’s Train, will host a Brew ‘n’ Choo ride event on Saturday, May 18, from 3 to 8 p.m. at its rail yard in Bonsal, located 30 minutes from Raleigh off Old U.S. 1 South on the Wake-Chatham county line.

Trains will depart from NHVR’s rail yard at 4, 5, 6 and 7 p.m. and travel eight miles round trip. Excursions typically last about an hour.

In addition to train rides, NHVR’s family-friendly event will have food available for purchase from Mel’s Many Minis Food Truck, visiting from Fuquay-Varina, and craft beer from Cary-based Fortnight Brewing Company for adults ages 21 and up. Food and drink are not included in the train ticket price.

“New Hope Valley Railway is the only venue in the Triangle where visitors can enjoy a ride on a real train operated by all volunteers,” said Chris Tilley, NHVR president. “Our Brew ‘n’ Choo ride events are a unique railroad experience for family fun, date night or any occasion.”

Before or after their train ride, visitors can tour the North Carolina Railway Museum. Free museum tours are planned 45 minutes before each train departure time. The Garden Railway (G scale) that runs on more than 1,000 feet of track will also be operating.

Train tickets cost $7-$10 and price varies for adults, seniors (ages 60+) and children (ages 2-12). All children under two are free when sitting in the lap of an adult ticketholder. Tickets are on sale now at TriangleTrain.com.

Brew ‘n’ Choo events are fundraisers that benefit restoration and construction projects at the railway. The May 18 Brew ‘n’ Choo benefits the restoration of Steam Locomotive #110, which was gifted to NHVR by the Stone Mountain Memorial Association in Georgia.

The remaining 2019 Brew ‘n’ Choo ride events at NHVR are planned for Saturdays June 29, July 27, August 31 and September 28. NHVR’s complete 2019 ride schedule can be viewed at TriangleTrain.com/schedule.
