About: Ship Community Outreach (also known as Ship Outreach and Community Center) serves downtown Raleigh, North Carolina and the surrounding communities with a focus on food insecurity, poverty alleviation, crime prevention, and employment training. SOCC is a grassroots effort to meet the needs of this community to be sure no one goes without while encouraging growth toward independence. These goals are achieved through four initiatives including: Galley Grocery, Bread of Life, The Ship Yard and The Transitional Employment Initiative. Each initiative serves a purpose to meet the current needs of individuals while also encouraging them to serve others and develop skills to become productive members of their community.
