Naughty or Nice?
Are your kids on Santa’s good list? If so, Santa will be visiting good boys and girls at Bear Rock Café in Morrisville from 6:30–8 p.m. on Dec. 16 to treat them to a special evening of fun and surprises.

Raising a Ruckus
Ruckus Pizza, Pasta & Spirits in Cary is raising funds for disadvantaged families in the community. Ruckus patrons have the opportunity to give $1, $5, $10 or more toward the collaborative cause conceived by waitstaff member Kelly Robinson.
“As soon as she mentioned it, we all looked at each other and knew it was a winner for the local community,” said Ruckus co-owner Ryan Pilz.
“One hundred percent of the money we receive from our customers goes toward helping these families enjoy a merry Christmas,” said Ruckus co-owner Robert Royster. “We’re hoping to raise between $3,000 and $4,000. So far, people have been generous and responsive, and we are about halfway to meeting our goal.”
Working in conjunction with local schools to identify families needing assistance, Pilz said the restaurant was able to fulfill one little girl’s wish list.
“We can make a lasting difference in the lives of families here in our own community.”

A German Christmas
On Dec. 11, from 10 a.m.–5pm, Guglhupf Bakery, Pâtisserie and Café in Durham will host its Second Annual German Christmas Market. Guglhupf’s patio will come alive with live music, delicious foods and hot beverages, holiday gifts and artwork from nationally recognized Southern artists.
Based on the Weihnachtsmarkts, which are popular in villages throughout Germany, shoppers can get a bite to eat while they stroll through this holiday gathering. Bratwurst will be sizzling on the grill, accompanied by braised sauerkraut and served on a brezel bun with mustard. Indulge a sweet tooth with seasonal treats from the bakery such as Berliners oozing with raspberry jam and coated in granulated sugar, warm apple fritters just out of the fryer, handmade Lebkuchen and of course the famous stollen.
