With many area hospitals and emergency rooms busy treating patients with coronavirus, a Cary plastic surgeon is now treating cuts and other injuries.

Dr. Brian Coan and his staff at CARE Plastic Surgery have expanded their services to treat urgent surgical needs like burns, lacerations and animal bites. The Stitch Me Up with CARE initiative pivots the business from a purely cosmetic and aesthetic practice.

“We can treat children and the elderly, and most importantly do our part by keeping these vulnerable patients from having to go to our local hospitals, emergency rooms and urgent care centers,” the practice announced in a written statement.

“As Brian and I are parents to two young girls and also having our elderly parents nearby we immediately thought of them when forming the Stitch Me Up With CARE business,” said Tica Lema, chief operations officer of CARE Plastic Surgery and Coan’s wife.

“We’re just happy we can offer this service for our neighbors and community at large, and to help decrease the volume at our local hospitals and frontline medical workers.”

CARE has already begun seeing patients and accepts most insurance providers, except Medicaid. Due to social distancing and sanitation protocols, the staff will only see one patient per sealed-off area.

“Our medical facility has one of the highest levels of accreditation and we have strict Covid-19 protocols in place to keep our patients and staff all safe,” said Lema.

CARE is also offering a Botox special that will benefit the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and Backpack Buddies. For each Botox offer claimed they will donate three lunches.
