Need something to inspire some healthy activity this summer? The Power Up Activity Kit from Girls on the Run of the Triangle is designed to fuel girls’ mind, body and spirit.
The at-home kit includes 50 activities that emphasize the important connection between physical and emotional health. Each activity helps girls learn important skills such as how to cope when things get difficult, demonstrate care for self and others, and practice positivity. From the silly starters to the fun movement games and challenges, the activities were designed to get girls to laugh, create and grow.
“Providing girls with opportunities to develop empathy, build resiliency, and identify and understand their values, choices, and emotions, are important now more than ever before,” said Meg Pomerantz, Executive Director of Girls on the Run of the Triangle.
“It’s never too early for girls to learn how to put these important skills into practice. This kit will help girls move, laugh and grow, and in the process find their inner girl power.”
The kit is available for purchase on the nonprofit’s website. The $49 kit, designed for 8- to 11-year old girls (rising third-sixth grades) includes: The Power Up Activity Book, an exclusive GRL PWR T-shirt, Physical Activity Training Plan, Completion Certificate, and a few other fun surprises, delivered directly to her doorstep.
“For 20 years, we’ve always done everything we can to support all girls as they navigate adolescence,” said Pomerantz. “This kit will help her grow her confidence and realize the potential she has to Power Up.”
The nonprofit is also raising funds to provide sponsored kits to girls within the community and is collecting donations here.
Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity-based program for girls in third to eighth grade. Using a fun curriculum that integrates running, the after-school sessions create a structured space for girls to gain confidence, cultivate empathy and develop the skills that will help them as they move through adolescence.
The nonprofit has served more than 19,000 girls since 2000, at more than 65 sites across the Triangle. All girls are welcome to join regardless of their family’s ability to pay. For more information, visit: gotrtriangle.org.
