To cap off what has been an unusual and difficult year, Christmas Lights on Holt Road is shining bright to provide an extra dose of holiday cheer this December.
“It is our hope that upon entering our gates you will leave the world’s problems outside and enjoy the one thing that we did not let COVID take away from us,” Holt Road organizers wrote in a recent Facebook post.
Since 2010, Miguel Guerra and Dawna Hogan-Guerra have opened their Apex property to the public to drive through thousands of lights strung around their property. This year, the lights show has already had more than 12,000 cars visit as one of many drive-thru holiday activities in the Triangle that continue in the absence of most in-person activities.
There is no cost for entry to the drive-thru lights show, which is the final stop on the Town of Apex’s Holiday Tour of Lights. Instead, organizers encourage donations to its nonprofit partners, Western Wake Crisis Ministry and Saving Grace NC.
“While we personally have been blessed and we do not need any donation for ourselves, we have partnered up with two trusted nonprofit organizations,” the Guerras wrote on Facebook. “Their sole purpose is to help families in need and to rescue thousands of pets.”
The lights at 1012 Holt Road, which will continue intermittently through Dec. 26, aren’t on every night, so check the Christmas Lights on Holt Road Facebook page for more information.
Festival of Lights at Hill Ridge Farms – While its usual country store, food and play park will not be offered in 2020, Ridge Farms in Youngsville has unveiled a new mile-long Festival of Lights where families can immerse themselves in the holiday spirit.
Located at 703 Tarboro Road in Youngsville, the lights can be enjoyed each weekend through Dec. 27 for the price of $20 per car upon arrival. For more information, visit http://www.hillridgefarms.com/festival.php.
Phillips Farm – Taking time out of their busy schedule in the North Pole, Santa and Mrs. Claus will spend time at Phillips Farm in Cary each weekend through Dec. 20.
The Clauses’ appearances headline an expanded list of weekend holiday activities at the family-owned farm from 8 a.m, to 9 p.m. each weekend, including picking out live Christmas trees, shopping vendors or at the Phillips Farm Store or sipping on hot chocolate and cider. Night of Lights – WRAL and the City of Raleigh have partnered to put on the first-ever Night of Lights Drive-Thru Lights Show at Dorothea Dix Park.
