owner, Foundations 4 Change
Watching my clients uncover their own capacity to ultimately build a solid, healthy foundation for the successful life they desire, is the most rewarding part of my job.
An Introduction: I am a dually licensed psychotherapist and a certified personal and professional development coach. My expertise is in helping individuals break through barriers, work through difficult situations, set boundaries and work to explore any limiting belief systems that may be preventing them from leading the life they truly desire.
Origin Story: I really didn’t know what I wanted to do after high school. I decided to take one class at a community college, and it was a psychology course. I can remember sitting in the middle of the class and thinking, “I know what I want now. I want to be a therapist.”
Recent Challenge: This past year, as fear and anxiety rose around viruses and germs, schools were closed, jobs were lost, lives were lost, family and friends were isolated, many people turned to therapy as a way to cope. … (T)he biggest challenge was that I too was going through the exact same thing as my clients. I too had to shift to remote work from my dedicated office space to a computer in my home, with two adolescent boys attending virtual school in the living room, and the constant excitement of three dogs running around the house, all while having some of the heaviest conversations I’ve ever had with clients.
In a profession that typically relies on subtle body language cues, or even simply offering a safe space for someone to come and cry without family members in the next room, it was an uncomfortable adjustment to completely transition to a virtual platform. … It was refreshing to see how even in non-ideal settings, the value of a therapist’s session can still be life-changing.
