Lucky us — new restaurants are popping up left and right in Western Wake!
Now open at Parkside Town Commons in Cary is the latest North Carolina location of Hickory Tavern, the brand named one of ESPN’s Best Sports Bar in North America.
“With the success of our Carrboro location, we wanted to bring another Hickory Tavern to the Triangle area. After we did our homework we were convinced that Cary is an ideal fit for us,” said Hickory Tavern CMO Thom Perez.
“We’ve spent years building Hickory Tavern’s reputation one guest at a time. Through all of that effort, we’ve earned, and we place a tremendous value on our status as the ‘neighborhood go-to’ for dining and socializing. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to do it again in one of the most exciting new areas in one of the most welcoming towns in all of North Carolina.”
On the Menu
Cary Magazine was invited to join in opening-eve fun at the tavern last week, bellying up to a high top to try a couple of menu items, the Telera Cheese Steak, featuring thinly shaved and seasoned beef served on a Telera roll with green peppers, shredded onions and cheese sauce, alongside thick fries.
Also, the signature Tavern Burger, made of fresh ground beef with jack and cheddar cheeses, served up with fries, tater tots, tavern chips or broccoli.
Both sandwiches get two thumbs up, as do the complimentary chips and queso, hot but not too hot. And the right-at-home roll of paper towels on the table was a convenient touch.
Also on the menu are three steak options, seafood choices including seared ahi tuna, lobster roll, and shrimp and grits, and the build-your-own salad.
Hickory Tavern offers a diverse selection of beers, too, including a local craft beer portfolio, along with wines and specialty drinks.
The vibe is hopping inside, with music pumping and more than 70 TVs sporting sports galore, from golf to NHL. You can also enjoy al fresco dining on the patio.
