NC KoreaFest 2022: ‘Celebrating Unity Through Korean Culture’ Once Again

InWave Hosts 6th Annual NCKoreaFest
Raleigh, North Carolina — Non-profit organization, InWave will host its 6th Annual NCKoreaFest at the Exposition Center (NC State Fairgrounds) located at 4825 Trinity Rd, Raleigh, NC, 27607. This family-friendly 2-day event will begin on Saturday, November 19 and end on Sunday, November 20.
Saturday will feature Korean food, K-Pop merchandise, kimchi festival, cultural lessons, K-Pop Dance Contest, TaeKwonDo Contest, Singing Contest, and special guests including Dream Chasing, Youn Duck Kyung Dance Company, zumba instructors, and more. Dance contest participants have the opportunity to perform in front of a panel of judges consisting of Ceo of Campus Entertainment Lee Jong Seo, Choreographer SEA NI, and dancer Elliot YJ You. Singing contest participants have the opportunity to perform in front of a panel of judges consisting of voice specialist Jamon Maple, Miss America 2022 Emma Broyles, Singer Hwang In Sun, and Hip Hop Emcee Heesun Lee. For the first time ever at NCKoreaFest, participants have the opportunity to perform a creative TaeKwonDo performance in front of a large panel of reputable judges including the Founder of Black Belt World, Jun Lee and Kukkiwon International Master, Juan Caceres to name a few. First place contest winners will receive $1,000 CASH PRIZE with a total of $6,800 awarded.
Sunday will be the 1st NCKoreaFest Music Festival featuring artists from Korea such as K-Pop Boy Group RoaD-B, Singer Hwang In Sun, and Choreographer Sea Ni. Additional performances from Christian Rapper Heesun Lee, Music Artist DAN aka DAN, DJ Moobek, and Singer Jamon Maple who is also known for his viral performance on “I Can See Your Voice.”
With the return of in person events, InWave extended its usual 1- day event to a 2-day event to bring Korean Culture to you on a whole new level. InWave is bringing Korean culture to life by sharing the experience of Korean games, music, food, and more with the community. The experience is shared through a Virtual Korea Tour, Kimchi festival, Traditional Korean Dance, Heritage Talk Series, and more! The Heritage Talk Series was introduced to NCKoreaFest this year and features special guests and their personal stories and life experiences in Korean Culture. This year, the panel consists of Indie Rapper DANakaDAN, Hip Hop Emcee Heesun Lee, Miss America 2022 Emma Broyles, Filmmaker and Co-CEO of SutchiLee Productions PreShus Lee, Voice Specialist Jamon Maple and Licensed Clinician and Global Speaker, Jeanie Chang.
After the isolation of lockdown, KoreaFest 2022 seeks to bring back a sense of community. Moreover, InWave strives to assist in connecting the global community to the locals of North Carolina by connecting international Korean culture to the Korean diaspora community located in Raleigh, North Carolina. InWave hosted the first Korean festival in the state of North Carolina in February of 2017 and since then has been successfully upholding its mission of ”Celebrating Unity Through Korean Culture.” InWave’s goal is to share the love of all aspects of Korean culture with everyone in the local and global community. For those who may feel hesitant because they may not be familiar with the language or the culture, InWave offers the opportunity to immerse themselves, learn, and connect with Korea. The Korean Wave has become a global phenomenon over the last 10 years and thanks to community support, the festival has grown and will continue to encourage individuals from across the country to attend next month.
Tickets for KoreaFest 2022 are currently available for purchase on Eventbrite, with Early Bird specials running from now until Nov. 11.
