Ready for a blast from the past? It’s been 20 years since American Idol stars Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken sang their way into America’s hearts, and now they are coming to Cary to kick off one of the most anticipated tours of the year. This special night of music at Koka Booth Amphitheatre, scheduled for Saturday, April 29, at 7 p.m., will benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund — a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting cancers affecting all women.  

Named after NC State’s legendary basketball coach, Coach Kay Yow — who passed away in 2009 after a 22-year, on-again, off-again battle with breast cancer — the organization has awarded $8.18 million to scientific research grants and programs since its inception.  

“Being a part of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund team means keeping Coach Yow’s legacy alive,” said Jenny Palmateer, vice president of program development for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. “She had a servant’s heart and cared deeply for others. She never asked why her, but she did want to know that there was a bigger purpose for her 22-year battle with cancer. That purpose became the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Through the Fund, spirits are lifted and lives are impacted in the fight against all cancers affecting women, and I am proud to be a member of the team.” 

 Studdard and Aiken will be joined on stage by local artists Jeane Jolly and Rebekah Todd. 

“We are thrilled to have Ruben & Clay | Twenty | The Tour at Cary’s Koka Booth Amphitheatre. Not only is it the reunion of an esteemed vocal duo, but Clay calls the Triangle home,” said Jamie Curtis, Koka Booth Amphitheatre’s general manager. “Performing in front of family and friends always makes a show more special. With a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, we’re looking forward to a great turnout for a great cause.”
