So what’s the deal the location, the Sams-Jones House aka today as MC Restaurant? Well, we aren’t exactly sure.
Here’s a snapshot:
The Sams-Jones House is a historical home that is probably the most unofficially and mysteriously haunted location in Downtown Cary. Its history is long and its inhabitants have been many, including a former President at UNC-CH who was not loved for all the wrong reasons. When the property was rezoned as commercial, many different establishments would come with fanfare, but ultimately leave the space quietly. There were whispers among contractors, owners, and long-time residents about the house being haunted, even cursed. Stories of young girl, perhaps burned in a house fire and relegated to the second floor for her protection by her father, permeated the legends. However, newspaper accounts are scarce.
Still the stories and failed businesses in the location persisted. The current owners and proprietors of the location, the Chuong Family, have seemed to break the “curse”, although they acknowledge reports of the haunting and heard reports from their own contractors who refused to return. They even have a sign stating “Beware of Ghost” blocking the staircase to the second floor.
How have they made peace with the presence? And what is the story behind the haunting? This is what we will reveal and attempt to uncover through the location’s FIRST real-time paranormal investigation with experienced investigators and local historians/folklorists, Katherine Loflin and Al Parker. But first we will enjoy a scrumptious 3 course dinner included in your ticket price, customized for our event by owner Chef Michael that only he could create.
We are very grateful to the Chuong Family for trusting us with the opening of their business to us for this purpose for the first time and expect all of our guests will show the same respect for the space and the experience on this event.
Parking:
The best parking will be either on Academy Street, the parking lot at the old library site, or in the current library parking deck. There will be limited space in the parking lot at the location.
Alcohol:
This event is for guests 21 years old and older. Please be prepared to show government-issued identification to tour staff, establishment staff, or any official upon request.
Please drink responsibly and don’t drive while impaired. Please use caution and respect inside the location and grounds. No alcohol is allowed on public streets. As stated in the required liability release, tour staff, the production company, nor the establishment is liable for incidents or accidents resulting from participating in the event.
