There are fancy balls, and there are galas.
But there’s only one SPCA Fur Ball Gala. And if you want in, you should act now, because tickets are going fast.
First, what’s in it for you:
“This year, attendees will enjoy a seated three-course dinner and chef-selected wine pairings at the Angus Barn in Raleigh, along with a silent and live auction,” said Tara Lynn, spokesperson for SPCA of Wake County. “One of our featured live auction items is a package to see the musical “Hamilton” in New York, have dinner with two cast members before the show, and a backstage meet and greet after the performance. That’s an experience you certainly can’t buy on your own!”
Next, what’s in it for our furry friends: Improved care, to serve more of them.
“Next year the SPCA of Wake County will celebrate 50 years of saving the lives of homeless pets in the Triangle,” Lynn said. “Most people think about our Adoption Center in Raleigh when thinking about the SPCA, but that building is only 12 years old.
“We’ve spent most of our existence on Highway 70 in Garner, since 1967. That building, the Holding Center, still remains a central part of our story. It’s the first place animals go when they start their journey to a new home at the SPCA. It is our intake building, and where animals receive care before space opens up at our Adoption Center.
“This year’s Fur Ball has a new mission of specifically raising funds for medical staffing, repairs and technology upgrades for the Holding Center,” she said. “This will allow us to take our care for the animals even further, improve communications between both buildings, and reduce animals’ time waiting to find their forever homes.”
The goal of the SPCA is to raise $260,000 through the Fur Ball, to support programs and services at Holding Center.
The 21st annual SPCA Fur Ball is set for Oct. 2 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., at The Pavilion at the Angus Barn, 9401 Glenwood Ave., in Raleigh.
Seats and sponsorships are available through the SPCA website, beginning at $500. For more information, visit http://spcawake.org/furball.
Do you need any volunteers? I volunteered for various fundraisers in San Diego including Paws for a Cause and Ronald McDonald here. Ginny
