Galas, complete with dinner, drinks, celebrities and silent auctions, don’t usually offer a business casual atmosphere with “dog hair lovingly accepted.”
Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue’s Golden Gala isn’t your typical gala.
It still has all the makings of a grand event, including local celebrity Chuck Kaiton, the Voice of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Kaiton will serve as honorary chair and master of ceremonies for the event, to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 22 at Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh.
The organization expects to spend nearly $150,000 on the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption efforts for homeless golden retrievers saved from shelters or found as strays. The gala will raise a substantial portion of that funding.
The Save a Golden Retriever Cash Raffle will earn one entrant — no gala attendance necessary — $5,000. A second-place winner who is in attendance will take home $2,000. Raffle tickets are $25 each and can be purchased online or at an adoptathon.
Adoptathons are held the first and third Saturday of each month (Feb. 2 and 16) from 10 a.m. to noon at the Cary Towne Center AniMall store, located inside the mall.
Gala tickets are $85 per person and include dinner, drinks, entertainment and giveaways. But ticket sales end Feb. 10!
