Now’s the time to gather family and friends to launch plans for a new holiday tradition: The Gifting Tree Project.

The Town of Cary is currently accepting entries for this favorite holiday endeavor. To enter, families, organizations, schools and causes decorate lighted trees that are displayed along Academy Street.

The public casts its votes for best tree, and the creators of the winning tree will have a donation made in their name to the nonprofit of their choice.

The entry deadline for the Gifting Tree Project is Nov. 18; application fee is $25.
