Mark your calendars for the 5K for Unity on Sat., July 17, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., hosted by Together We Stand NC, (TWS-NC), Fleet Feet Sports, and CEP Compression. Five breweries across the state will host this inclusive event that benefits local charities.

The two local participating breweries are Ponysauraus Brewing in Durham, and Vecino Brewing in Carrboro. Both 5K for Unity events at these locations benefit Girls on the Run of the Triangle’s (GOTR Triangle) work to empower girls in grades 3-8 to be healthy, joyful and confident. TWS-NC NC is donating $7 of each of registration fee for the events at Ponysaurus and Vecino to GOTR Triangle to help provide financial assistance for girls to participate in its life-changing program. They’ll bump the donation up to $10 when participants choose GOTR Triangle from the referral drop-down menu when registering.

Enjoy a social 5k walk or run & stay for conversations over a cold beverage. This is a live and virtual social event, and people can participate from all over the country (and world) at their own time and place.

The three other breweries in North Carolina who are hosting this social walk/run 5k with the purpose of initiating authentic conversations about diversity, inclusion, and race are:  Divine Barrel Brewing (Charlotte), Foothills Brewing (Winston Salem), Little Brother Brewing (Greensboro).

TWS-NC has designated July 17^th as a day of conversation and contemplation.  Our local breweries are a safe space for all races and sexual orientations.  Come for a social walk/run and stay for the conversation (and, of course, delicious craft beer).

With your registration, you’ll receive the 2021 Together We Stand NC tee, the official shirt of the 5K for Unity.  The 2021 Together We Stand shirt is the 4th in a series of wearable “conversation starters”.  The front of the charcoal heather shirt features the iconic TWS Bull logo and the back features the phrase “Our Lives Begin to End the Day We Become Silent About Things That Matter” (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.). This quote was chosen because of the belief that justice must matter to ALL of us in order for change to occur.
