A Concert of Appalachian Music
January 24 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeAward-winning Elizabeth LaPrelle and the Family Band will present a concert at St Luke’s Episcopal Church located at 1737 Hillandale Road in Durham. The band is led by Elizabeth LaPrelle of Rural Retreat, Virginia, who has been described as “the best young Appalachian ballad singer to emerge in recent memory.” Their music features old-time fiddle, banjo, and guitar, but what truly sets this family band apart is their strong voices. The group allows their eclectic tastes to be their guide through a repertoire of ancient mountain ballads, old-time tunes, novelty songs, and gospel harmonies. Please join other lovers of old songs and ballads for a delightful evening at St. Luke’s. Admission is free but donations will be accepted.
