“A Pilgrim Paints the Camino de Santiago”

In June of 2016, Sonia Kane took the first steps on a long-awaited pilgrimage with some dear friends.  They started in southwest France and hiked through the Pyrenees into northern Spain and eventually to Santiago de Compostela.  The journey was a rich reminder to receive each day as it unfolds and to be grateful for its many gifts.

But how does a pilgrim even begin to share the uniquely personal, yet communal, experience of the Camino?  For Sonia, the answer was to express the journey in brushstrokes.  And now, two years after taking the first steps in St. Jean, and 30 canvases later, Sonia is ready to share the beauty and peace that she found on the Camino.

This journey will be on exhibit at the Cary Town Hall June 27 – Aug 26, with a free opening reception Friday June 29, 6-8pm.
