On Saturday, Nov. 18, Activate Good will bring together families from around the Triangle in recognition of Family Volunteer Day – a day of service that celebrates the power of families
who volunteer together while supporting their neighborhoods and local communities.

Established more than two decades ago by Points of Light , Family Volunteer Day was founded to demonstrate the benefits of family volunteering and provide opportunities for families to help their local communities. Presented by generationOn and sponsored by Disney, Family Volunteer Day is strategically held each year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving as a way to ‘kick-off’ the holiday season with giving and service. It also signals the start of National Family Week.

For families interested in volunteering in the Triangle, Activate Good is hosting its signature 2017 Craft for a Cause on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 1-3pm at the Pullen Park Community Center in Raleigh. This event will include various hands-on DIY crafting stations to benefit local nonprofits, including capes for kids in the hospital through The Heart of Paige , tree seed balls for spring planting with We Plant It Forward , First Responder Thank You Kits for local heroes, and more. This event is fun for all ages and the perfect start to the holidays – plus a day enjoying the park’s rides and more.

Space is limited, so parents and caregivers are required to sign up at https://activategood.org/opportunity/3504 in order to participate.
As part of this project, Activate Good will also host an donation drive for new kids’ underwear (especially for boys) to benefit Note in the Pocket, an organization providing clothing to children in need. All donations are tax deductible, and must be new and in original manufacturer’s packaging. To make a donation in advance and have items shipped directly to our office for inclusion in Family Volunteer Day collection, individuals can purchase from Activate Good’s Amazon Wish List by November 13.
