Bands, Bites & Boats

If your Friday night plans are up the creek with no paddle, head to Cary’s Boathouse in Bond Park, 801 High House Road, on select Fridays now through October to experience a new outdoor music series like none other. Titled Bands, Bites and Boats, guests can spend the evening at Bond Lake enjoying live, local music and food from a local food truck. Afterhours boat rentals complete the event, allowing guests to enjoy a peaceful sunset from the middle of Bond Lake.
Events are from 5-8 p.m. unless noted otherwise; the specific schedule is as follows:
- April 21, music by Rory John Zak and food truck by Crepes Veronique;
- May 26, music by Jared Place and food truck by Crepes Veronique; half-price boat rentals for veterans and active duty servicemen and women;
- June 30, music by Garland Mason and food trucks by Baozi and Captain Cookie and the Milkman;
- July 28, music by Kaylin Roberson and food truck by The Humble Pig;
- August 25, music by Garth Robertson and food truck by Oak City Fish and Chips;
- September 29, 5-7 p.m., music by Ed Stephenson and food truck by Queso Monster; half-price boat rentals for families in support of Take a Child Outside (TACO) Week; and
- October 27, 4-7 p.m., music by Justin Runyon and food trucks by Cousins Main Lobster and Stuft; half-price concessions and boat rentals for all costumed attendees.
The Town of Cary’s Bond Park Boathouse opened for the season April 1 and is open daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Available rentals include kayaks, canoes, rowboats, and sailboats for one-hour increments, and pedal boats for half-hour increments; prices vary. Register for instructional classes for canoes, kayaks, sailboats, fishing clinics and summer camps. Purchase bait and tackle or concessions at the boathouse, including snacks, beverages, and ice cream. Annually, the Boathouse nets about 5,500 rentals.
