Black Violin
Aug 18, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
$25 – $45Black Violin is composed of classically trained violist and violinist Wil B. And Kev Marcus, who combine their classical training and hip-hop influences to create a distinctive multi-genre sound that is often described as “classical boom.” Black Violin has shared stages with top names including Kanye West, Aerosmith and Tom Petty, and has creatively collaborated with the likes of Wu-Tang Clan, Wyclef Jean and Alicia Keys.
To highlight Black Violin’s dedication to accessible music education, the band likes to partner with local youth orchestras. For the date at Cary’s Booth Amphitheatre, it seemed natural to partner with the Philharmonic Association – Triangle Youth Music (hyperlink to http://philharmonic-association.org), whose mission is to prove and opportunity for young musicians to learn, understand, and perform all genres of great classical and jazz music. Twenty-eight members of the Philharmonic will have the opportunity to perform with Black Violin at Booth Amphitheatre on August 18th. Beginning 30 years ago with an orchestra of 35, the Philharmonic Association has now grown to include three full orchestras, two string orchestras, four jazz ensembles, and several chamber ensembles serving almost 400 talented young musicians a year. We have given nearly 2000 aspiring public school aged musicians an opportunity to perform over 400 of the world’s greatest classical works and eleven world premieres. Many of our members have also had the opportunity to appear as soloists and conductors.
