Spring has sprung and so has “kitten season” during this spring and summer unaltered female cats give birth, flooding shelters and rescues with hundreds of kittens.  Purr Partners has already rescued nearly 200 kittens this season — about 8 nursing mother cats and their newborn babies as well as 15 litters of orphan kittens.  Lawanna Johnson, Director, and Founder of the rescue suggests that the number of kittens and cats will only rise as the year goes on, which is why these events are so vital.

·        On Saturday, June 16 Purr Partners Feline Rescue and Bull City Veterinary Hospital team up to host the first-ever Bull City Cat Café and Kitten Shower at the Bull City Veterinary Hospital, 605 Fernway Ave, Durham, NC 27701 from 9 am – 1 pm.

In the style of a traditional baby shower, guests are encouraged to bring gifts and donations to support the rescue. The events will showcase adoptable kittens in a relaxed environment. There will be bottle feeding demonstrations, a kitten naming contest, learn how to care for cats and kittens and find out how to get involved through Purr Partners foster and volunteer programs.  Best of all, lots of cuddles and plenty of PURRS!

Purr Partners will have adoption counselors on-site at both events. Potential adopters are encouraged to begin the adoption application online before coming to the event to expedite the adoption process.

Bull City Veterinary Hospital will serve as a drop-off location for kitten supply donations through June 16.  Most needed items are Royal Canin Mother & Babycat Canned and Dry food, Breeders Edge or KMR Kitten Milk Replacer Powder, bottle feeding kits and natural kitten-safe litters.
