Cary Beer Garden Invites Public to Lawn Party Grand Opening
May 11, 2019 @ 2:30 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeThe media and public are invited to celebrate the Grand Opening of Der Biergarten in Cary, which offers a blend of American and German-inspired food as well as rotating beer taps.
Der Biergarten, 1080 Darrington Dr., Cary, will host a Grand Opening Lawn Party starting at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11 with live music, giveaways, prizes, face painting, scavenger hunts for both kids and adults, an arts and crafts station, and food and drink specials.
Residents are invited to compete for prizes and bragging rights in the two scavenger hunts and the Biergarten Olympics, a series of games including table tennis, a three-legged race, Cornhole, and giant Jenga. Prizes include gift cards, gift baskets, Biergarten swag, all given out after each round.
Der Biergarten will collect school supplies throughout the event for Wake County Public Schools students and teachers. The Biergarten will match each item donated.
“We’re thrilled to bring this new experience to Cary,” said Manager Casey Nilsen. “We hope to become a gathering place for all, a place everyone can come and feel welcomed and become a staple within the community.”
Der Biergarten is locally owned and operated. Visitors will enjoy the unique feeling of an indoor garden, with picnic tables and pergolas, reminiscent of a true beer garden.
The menu features a mixture of American pub fare as well as a handful of German-inspired entrees, including pork schnitzel and a house-made sausage platter, and of course, pretzels.
It wouldn’t be a beer garden without 22 rotating taps — a mix of local craft brews and classic German beers — plus 10 bottled options and a full bar. The amazing environment also features table tennis, eight sets of Cornhole boards, Chippo, giant Jenga, Connect Four, and a ring toss. Kids can hunt for a gnome in a scavenger hunt that changes each week. Children who find all five gnomes get a free s’mores packet.
Kids love the “make your own s’mores” station and have their own outdoor play area with climbing equipment.
Der Biergarten welcomes groups for private events, both personal and business. The large space includes three private dining rooms and the restaurant can create custom menus tailored to each event.
“We understand people come here for birthdays, bridal showers, communions, weddings – and we want to be involved. We know it’s a special day for you or your loved one and we are always so thankful to be a part of it,” Nilsen said.
