See, Hear, Touch, Taste Your Way Into Indian Culture at Cary’s Diwali

  • Follow your senses and immerse yourself in India’s culture at Cary’s Koka Booth Amphitheatre on October 14 from 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m.
  • The 17th annual Cary Diwali is free and expected to be attended by more than 10,000 people.
  • New this year, taste your way through India with live food demonstrations

Cary, NC – Celebrate the victory of good over evil and take an unforgettable sensorial journey into Indian culture through taste, smell, touch, sound and sight at Cary’s Diwali on October 14 from 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m. at Koka Booth Amphitheatre. Playing off of this year’s theme, Anubhuti: A Sensory Experience, attendees will experience intricate dance, vibrant music and delicious cuisine, while learning about the philosophy of Yoga and richness of Indian textiles. New this year are the food demonstrations in the exhibition tent, with the theme Spices of India, in which attendees can learn about the culinary traditions of the many regions of India. Continuing again this year are the “Aapo Deepo Bhava” awards, which recognize youth who have made an outstanding contribution the community, or who have excelled in education or cultural arts. Evening fireworks close the event. Admission is free and parking is $5; accessible parking is available at the VIP lot.

Presented in partnership with HumSub, Cary Diwali is the largest open air festival of its kind in the southeastern United States. This year’s entertainment is headlined by returning performer Mayuri, a Russian dance troupe known for its Indian dance. Local cultural dance, theater and musicians round out the entertainment schedule.

Diwali is the most widely-celebrated religious and cultural event in India, and marks the victory of good over evil, light over dark, and the beginning of the New Year.
