Support area artists as they attempt to capture all the beauty Cary has to offer as part of “En Plein Air” on May 6 from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.; rain date is May 13 from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. More than 30 artists will paint the Town’s architecture and landscapes in oils, acrylics, and watercolors. With the recent opening of the Downtown Park, artists will have the opportunity to depict Cary’s newest outdoor amenity in addition to the new streetscape along Academy Street. Artists may also choose to paint any of the Town’s 30 parks and miles of greenways.

Finished pieces will be displayed in participating downtown businesses from May 10-June 7, after which the artwork will be shown at the Cary Arts Center and available for purchase at the Silent Art Auction and Gala on June 9.

Lists of artists’ names, titles of works, and corresponding downtown locations will be available online and at the Cary Arts Center, The Cary Theater, or the Page-Walker Arts & History Center. Ballots will only be available at the Cary Arts Center, The Cary Theater and the Page-Walker Arts & History Center; votes must be turned in to the Cary Arts Center by June 9 at 8:15 p.m. to be counted. Cash prizes will be awarded for first and second places and People’s Choice; the winners will be recognized at the Silent Art Auction and Gala on June 9.
