Juneteenth

June 8 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Free

Juneteenth marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full 2 1/2 years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday.

Join us for the Morrisville Juneteenth event, featuring music, historical presentations, entertainment, food trucks, games, a Fish Fry by Morrisville Education & Community Services Enterprise, and the unveiling of a new mural at Shiloh Park!
