Chatham County Council on Aging will be offering a Living Healthy Workshop series beginning Monday, September 10 from 2 – 4 pm at the Eastern Chatham Senior Center, located at 365 Highway 87 North in Pittsboro.

Living Healthy is a six-week program for people with chronic conditions and their family caregivers.  Chronic conditions are ongoing health issues and include diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, depression, heart disease, chronic pain, anxiety, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and others.

“We welcome everyone to participate, but to get the most out of this program persons are strongly encouraged to attend all six weeks. The goal is to help people better manage their health conditions and deal with the frustration, fatigue and pain that can accompany a chronic disease,” said Pittsboro Senior Center Manager Liz Lahti.

During the workshop, participants receive support from trained leaders and other workshop participants, learn practical ways to manage their pain and fatigue, learn about nutrition and exercise options, understand new treatment choices and learn better ways to communicate about their conditions with doctors and family members.
