Luau in the Rail Yard
Jun 30, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
$10 – $12New Hope Valley Railway (NHVR), the Triangle’s Train, will host a Brew ‘n’ Choo Luau on Saturday, June 30, from 1-6 p.m. at its rail yard in Bonsal, located 30 minutes from Raleigh off of Old U.S. 1 South on the Wake-Chatham county line.
Ride the train in a Hawaiian setting complete with craft beer, barbecue and music. Iconic Productions’ DJ Harry will host games prizes and giveaways, including limbo, hula hoop and dance contests. Train excursions depart at 2, 3, 4 and 5 p.m.
Proceeds from the Luau event will go toward the restoration of NHVR’s Steam Engine #17, which is currently undergoing its mandated, 15-year, Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) inspection.
“Our island-inspired Brew ‘n’ Choo Luau has something for all ages to enjoy,” said Peter Jasion, NHVR marketing manager. “After riding the train, families and friends can create a lasting memory of their visit to the rail yard by taking a photo in front of the tropical beach backdrop.”
NHVR’s food vendor, Catering on Demand, will serve Hawaiian roasted barbecue with chicken long rice or aloha sweet potatoes. Hand dipped premium ice creams and non-alcoholic piña colada and strawberry smoothies will also be available for purchase.
Train tickets cost $10-$12 and all visitors must purchase a ticket to be admitted onto the grounds. Purchase tickets for adults, seniors (ages 60+) and children (ages 2-12) at www.TriangleTrain.com/buytickets. Children must always be accompanied by an adult and food and drinks are not included in the train ticket price.
