NCAA Division I Women’s College Cup – Semifinals
May 13, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm
$20On Thursday, May 13, the semifinals of the College Cup will put on the line two berths into the national championship game. First, No. 1 seed Florida State will face Virginia at 6 p.m. EDT, followed by No. 2 seed North Carolina versus No. 11 seed Santa Clara.
Both games are on ESPN2.
This season’s College Cup field includes some of the biggest programs in the sport. North Carolina and Florida State have a combined 23 national championships and this year’s College Cup participants have combined for nine national runner-up finishes. North Carolina is a two-time reigning national runner-up, falling to Stanford in penalty kicks in 2019 and 1-0 to Florida State in 2018. The Tar Heels and Seminoles could potentially face off in a rematch if the top two seeds each win its respective semifinal matchup.
The remaining four teams feature some of the highest-scoring offenses in the country, led by Florida State’s fifth-ranked offense in scoring average (2.86 goals per game), plus Santa Clara (2.60 goals per game, seventh) and North Carolina (2.53 goals per game, eighth). The Tar Heels also have one of the stingiest defenses in the country, allowing just a .316 goals-against average.
The national championship will be played Monday, May 17.
