Volunteer at The State Capitol
Sep 25, 2017 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am
The State Capitol is seeking volunteers interested in training as docents. These volunteers are the public face of the State Capitol and are relied upon for tours, both with adult and children’s groups. The Capitol will hold a volunteer docent training and information session, Monday, Sept. 25, at 9:30 a.m. Docents will be trained to give tours of the 1840 Capitol and learn much about local and state history.
No previous experience is required to volunteer, just curiosity about history, enjoyment of working with children, and a few hours a month to volunteer.
To sign up for this training or for more information, contact Cathy Johnson at (919) 733-4995 or email cathy.johnson@ncdcr.gov.
The State Capitol’s mission is to preserve and interpret the history, architecture and function of the 1840 building and Union Square. It is within the Division of State Historic Sites within the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, and located at One Edenton Street, Raleigh.
