Wounded Healers: Using Storytelling as Social Support

Oct 12, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

For social workers and justice advocates in need of creative engagement for marginalized communities.

Storytelling as a tool for social support models two of the 10 principles of trauma-informed care:

1. Storytelling employs an empowerment model.

2. Storytelling emphasizes women’s strengths, highlighting adaptations over symptoms and resilience over pathology.

This workshop is designed for social workers, justice advocates and other bodies who serve on the front-lines of society’s marginalized population and are need of fresh strategies to creatively engage clients. This interactive workshop will teach you how to craft true, first-person narratives, and how to curate safe spaces for clients to share stories. Coffee/tea, workshop materials will be provided.
