What do you call the organization that offers food, childcare scholarships, adult education, job training and more to local people in need?
Best Charity!
Dorcas Ministries made the leap to top vote-getter as Best Charity, following honorable mention nods in the past two Maggy contests.
The nonprofit serves some 15,000 people from across Cary and Morrisville annually, offering more than $500,000 in food and financial assistance. Proceeds from the ministry’s popular thrift shop, where revenues have tripled over the past few years thanks to community support, help fund the ministry’s programs.
BTW, that thrift shop shows up three — count ‘em, three — times on the winners’ list, earning honorable mentions for Best Bargains, Best Place to Shop for Shoes and Accessories, and Best Place to Shop for Adult Clothing.
Get in on the Dorcas action by donating goods, dollars, or volunteer time, on your own or with a group!
Winning honorable mentions were the SPCA of Wake County and Transitions LifeCare, formerly Hospice of Wake County.
