Look out! Wolfgang Bigbad is huffing and puffing his way to the Cary Arts Center this weekend.
On Saturday, the Marvelous Music Family Series will host Opera Carolina’s performance of the classic tale, “The Three Little Pigs” at 11 a.m., at the Cary Arts Center.
The performance is a feature of Opera Carolina’s educational touring company — the largest opera company in the Carolinas.
The Marvelous Music Family Series opens a door of creative opportunities for audiences K-5+, to appreciate professional fine arts while enjoying a fun and engaging musical.
The tale of “The Three Little Pigs” is also great story that tells the importance of education.
This year, the family series has incorporated a new event called Crafty Class Connections, which is a themed arts and crafts class designed to build anticipation for each show.
“We wanted to create a better experience for the kids, so they can feel included in the show,” said Sarah Preston, performing arts coordinator.
The craft class for “The Three Little Pigs” will be held on Friday from 4 to 5:30 p.m.; children will make pig and wolf masks they can wear to the Saturday show.
There is a registration fee for the class, but those who sign up will receive $3 off event admission.
Register at classweb.townofcary.org, or in person at the Cary Arts Center, any of Cary’s community centers, Town Hall, or at the Cary Senior Center.
Be sure to get to the Cary Arts Center early on Saturday to hear the Cary Children’s Concert Choir sing a pre-show performance.
Tickets for “The Three Little Pigs” are $8 per person and can be purchased at the Cary Arts Center Box Office, or at etix.com.
