Get fit for a good cause at the Get Heeled 5K on Oct. 22.
The event benefits Get Real & Heel, a program that serves breast cancer patients in the Triangle through exercise, recreational therapy and strengthening the mind to manage treatment-related symptoms and improve quality of life.
Get Heeled has a fundraising goal of $75,000, which would send 50 women through the Get Real & Heel program for free.
The 5K run will begin at 9 a.m. at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill. Participants will run or walk a 5K course through the Meadowmont community in Chapel Hill. Afterward, a family 1-mile walk will extend participation to children as well.
A Celebration Zone will feature food, children’s activities, auctions, giveaways and other events.
Individual registration for $30 includes one 5K entry and event T-shirt.
The Family Fun Package allows two adults to run the 5K, then pick up their kids for the family walk. The $55 registration includes two adult and two children’s T-shirts.
