Here & Far

Get outside locally, or try Hike NC for adventures across the state.

Take a hike, for your health and happiness! Allow us to present options both here in Western Wake, and far, as in all across North Carolina!

Hike NC is a free program designed to get you outside and enjoying nature, no matter your age or fitness level. It’s a collaboration between Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina and leading hiking experts across the state.

“Hike NC’s fall launch was a success, with more than 800 people across the state signing up for a guided hike,” said Kathy Higgins, Blue Cross vice president of Corporate Affairs. “We want North Carolinians to discover what spring has to offer on the trails with friends and family. Hike NC not only gets people outside and active but also allows them to explore their breathtaking state in a unique way.”

Offering more than 60 guided hikes statewide, from the Altapass Orchard Trail in Spruce Pine to the Live Oak Trail in Winnabow, Hike NC runs through mid-June. Each hike is led by a trained guide or park ranger, and hikes include various distances, times, locations and levels of trail difficulty.
