“Imagination is the highest kite one can fly,” actress Lauren Bacall once said. Use your imagination at the annual Kite Festival in Cary this Saturday, and you might just take home a prize!
The event is for kids of all ages, with award categories including everything from oldest, youngest and most generations flying a kite, to fastest take-off and best tangle. See the full list of awards here.
The free fun runs from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and includes music, concessions and an onsite kite expert who will offer flying tips and lend a hand with any necessary kite repairs.
There are even pre-festival classes in kite making; space is limited and registration is required.
And what if you just want to watch the kite-flying fun? You’re welcome, too!
The festival rain date is Sunday, March 19.
