Grab a racket and come out to honor late Middle Creek High coach Rhonda Blanchard, and do some good while you’re at it.
The Western Wake Tennis Association hosts the second annual Rhonda N. Blanchard Memorial Shootout this Sunday, Aug. 5, benefiting the Abilities Tennis Association of NC, which supports tennis opportunities for those with intellectual disabilities.
Blanchard served as men’s and women’s tennis coach at Middle Creek High, and taught students with special needs there, before her death in 2015.
The shootout event features divisions for boys and girls singles; entry fee is $30 per player and includes lunch and a Unified Doubles exhibition that pairs Abilities athletes with high school players.
The Rhonda N. Blanchard Memorial Shootout runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Kildaire Farms Racquet & Swim Club and Farmington Woods Tennis Courts in Cary.
