The North Carolina State Fair is a big deal. And for Scotty lovers, it’s even bigger.
Garner’s hometown boy is having a big week, with two State Fair shows on his schedule and treks around the nation to promote his released-this-week CD, See You Tonight.
Scotty is set to take the State Fair stage at Dorton Arena on Monday and Tuesday nights, Oct. 21 and 22, at 7:30 each night. Tickets for the shows are $25, and were still available as of press time, at ncstatefair.org.
Also, prior to the concerts, Scotty will take part in a Q&A session for ticketholders hosted by radio station WQDR, during a CD release party.
Here’s how it works: At 1 p.m. each day the merchandise booth located on the south side of Dorton Arena (the Hillsborough Street side) will begin issuing wristbands. Those with a concert ticket for Scotty's show that night, along with proof of album purchase, can get a wristband. Wristbands will be capped at 2,000 people.
Then, at 4 p.m., the doors on the west side of Dorton Arena (near the Graham Building) will open for the party.
“This album is a big step from the first one, and I can’t wait for everybody to hear it,” Scotty said. He co-wrote five songs on the project, including title track.
“We’ve been working on this for the better part of a year,” he said, “so Tuesday (release date Oct. 15) has been a long time coming. With this album, I feel like I accomplished what I wanted to sound like and say.”
The N.C. State Fair runs Oct. 17-27 at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. See ncstatefair.org for all the details.
