Bring your voice and some non-perishable foods and celebrate the season at Messiah Sing, a benefit event for the Fuquay-Varina Emergency Food Pantry.
This first-annual event features the Western Wake Chamber Orchestra, performing one of the greatest choral works every written: The Christmas section of Handel’s Messiah, complete with solos and concluding with the Hallelujah Chorus.
In 1742, Handel premiered Messiah in a theater as a charitable event with a small orchestra, soloists and chorus.
Continue in that spirit — sing along, while helping the Fuquay-Varina Emergency Food Pantry feed the hungry in Fuquay-Varina, Holly Springs and Willow Spring. In 2013, the pantry distributed nearly 7,000 boxes of food to needy families, which helped feed more than 24,600 men, women and children.
