Show your support for veterans and those in uniform at the second annual Cary Unity Walk & Fun Run, coming up on Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11.
“The Cary Unity Walk celebrates citizens working together to support first responders and create a safe, unified and nurturing community for our youth and our future,” said Alisa Wright Colopy of Fit & Able Productions, director of the walk and a 2016 Cary Magazine Woman of Western Wake.
Last year’s walk brought out more than 500 runners, walkers and strollers to promote unity within the Cary community.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to noon and begins with a walk from Downtown Cary to WakeMed Soccer Park, where participants will find a Veterans Day and Law Enforcement Festival with exhibits and activities, and 5K and 10K races.
This year’s walk salutes law enforcement, firefighters and EMS, along with veterans, and benefits the 200 Club of Wake County and Special Olympics North Carolina.
“This event is for everyone — friends, families and school groups — to join in the celebration of our unified community,” Wright Colopy said.
